What is the added value of a topper?

Should I buy a topper or do I need a new mattress?

If your mattress is still relatively new but you feel like it's a little too firm, then a topper can be a solution for that. The complementary layers allow your shoulders to sink in better and you immediately feel the pressure relief once you lay on it.

If your mattress shows signs of wear, such as a hollow, the topper is of no use. The topper would adapt to the base of the hollow and would not have enough support to solve this problem. In this case, we'd recommend replacing the mattress.

What are the differences between the topper models?

The most obvious difference is height. The Flip Topper is 5cm while the Premium Topper is 8cm.

The Premium Topper is a topper with a layer consisting of millions of tiny graphite particles that help you reach the ideal sleeping temperature in record time. Comparing the two toppers, the Premium Topper is more supportive and gives enough room to adapt to different body types and sleeping positions. As an added bonus, the underside of the Premium Topper is also equipped with an anti-slip coating.

Does the mattress underneath the topper make a difference?

Yes, because like a house, the mattress forms the foundation. Depending on the foundation, the lying properties also change. If the mattress is too firm, the topper helps you lie more comfortably. If you already have your perfect mattress, the topper could potentially have a negative effect, because the shoulder or pelvic area may sink too deeply into the sleep system.

Does a topper make the mattress "hotter"?

This depends more on the material and less on the topper itself. The Emma Premium Topper, for example, has heat-conducting properties that help the body reach the ideal sleeping temperature in the shortest possible time.

Toppers made of Airgocell foam, such as the Flip Topper, also reduce increased sweating because of their open pores. The materials have a restoring force and so the body is not so strongly absorbed by the sleep system.

Viscoelastic foam is an exception to this rule. This foam reacts not only to pressure, but also to heat which makes it more elastic. Due to the high density of viscoelastic foam, you would sleep hotter on a topper made of pure visco foam.
