Product Review: BlissLights Sky Lite Projector

#sleep tech

Modern life can be chaotic and stressful at times. Luckily, soothing your over-stimulated mind before bed could be easier than you think. I tested the BlissLights Sky Lite Galaxy Projector and was blown away by its ability to calm my thoughts and transform a room. With its soothing skyscape of stars and nebula clouds, Sky Lite is perfect for unwinding and relaxing at the end of the day.

This article will cover everything you need to know about Sky Lite so that you can decide if this galaxy projector is the right choice for you.

Filippo Calderaro

BlissLights technology was first used with great success on movie sets and in major theme parks around the globe. The creators have since innovated a range of indoor laser light products, including the award-winning Sky Lite Galaxy Projector.

Sky Lite is a laser projector nightlight that projects a sea of blue stars and nebula onto any wall or ceiling. The projector transforms the ambience of any space, giving a relaxing spa-like feel to your games room, home theatre, or bedroom.

With a range of modes, you can choose the skyscape that best suits your mood for an instant sense of relaxation.

The compact projector has a sleek, round shape with a diameter of approximately 16cm. Its modern, unobtrusive design ensures it complements most home décor styles.

When you sleep, both your body and mind relax. Sleep is also a crucial time for cell repair and regeneration, helping to support your overall health and wellbeing.

However, with busy lives, it can be difficult to get enough sleep each night to ensure you wake up feeling refreshed. If you’re looking for ways to unwind or get a better sleep, you’re certainly not alone.

There has been plenty of scientific research into the effects of light on sleep. Light directly affects sleep as the cycle of the sun affects the circadian rhythm, or the body’s internal clock. Exposure to light prior to bed is thought to suppress the body’s production of melatonin, the natural substance that makes you feel sleepy. This could lead to difficulties falling asleep.

However, when used correctly, light can also boost relaxation and support healthy sleep patterns. Light has even been labelled a therapeutic agent by scientists looking at sleep disorders and depression.

A team of researchers proved that following a stressful event, exposure to blue light accelerated feelings of relaxation. This is important because the stars and nebula of Sky Lite are made of blue light.

I undoubtedly noticed that a natural, calming response occurred within me after using the projector for just a few minutes. I have been astounded by just how relaxed I have felt in the evenings since using Sky Lite.

Within minutes of setting Sky Lite up, I was hooked. The galaxy instantly appeared on my bedroom ceiling, provoking a sense of calm and contentment.

Sky Lite has a range of settings. After experimentation, my personal favourite was the gentle rotation of stars and nebula combined, on the lowest light setting. The effect was one of a calming spa experience, similar to the natural unwinding you feel after using aromatherapy oils or having a massage. The best part was that this time of de-stressing occurred in the comfort and privacy of my own bedroom!

The galaxy projector also creates a relaxing atmosphere for reading and taking it easy at the end of the day. The stars offer a beautiful backdrop for meditation or calming breathing exercises.

The skyscape is versatile, providing the perfect backdrop for a home movie night or a dinner party. My children also enjoyed hearing their bedtime stories under our personal galaxy.

Easy Set-Up

Sky Lite Projector is compact, easy to install and simple to use. The power cable is supplied with both UK and EU compatible plugs. The cable can also be connected directly into a USB socket.  Mains powered products are always my preference, as the hassle of replacing batteries is avoided.

The white, circular unit should be placed on a flat surface, and its two tilt settings allow you to project the lights onto a wall or ceiling. To begin using, simply switch the projector on and a galaxy will immediately appear.

Settings

There are several available settings, all easily controlled with just three buttons.

  1. Power button – turns the projector on and off, and allows you to select stars and nebula, nebula only, or stars only.
  2. Rotation button – choose whether the galaxy rotates or remains still.
  3. Brightness button – select from three brightness settings.

Image Quality

Sky Lite projects a stunning galaxy onto the ceiling or wall. Laser stars gently rotate across the room, whilst relaxing cloud-like nebula sweep gently over the ceiling. The overall effect is incredibly convincing, with a life-like galaxy being replicated in the comfort of your own home.

The presence of stars and nebula instantly changed the atmosphere of my bedroom, creating a tranquil, peaceful sanctuary that felt miles from reality.

Additional Features

Sky Lite automatically shuts off after six hours of use. You can therefore drift into slumber without having to switch the projector off first.

Before purchasing Sky Lite, you need to consider the room that you intend to use it in. If your bedroom has numerous pictures on the wall, or a large lampshade or light fitting, these may interrupt the appearance of the galaxy. The overall effect of the projector will be better in a room that has fewer adornments.

Sky Lite gave me a feeling of instant calmness. However, as it emits light, it is wise to consider it a relaxation aid, rather than a sleep aid. Although I had no trouble falling asleep under the starry sky, if you are particularly sensitive to light or already have difficulty sleeping, then it is possible that the projector could make it harder for you to settle.

Pros Cons
Instantly changes the ambience of a room Light exposure before bed may affect sleep
Projects an impressive skyscape More expensive choice
Blue light aids relaxation following stress  Charging may be tedious

Sky Lite is an excellent choice when looking for a quality galaxy light projector. Create a realistic universe of blue stars and nebula clouds in the comfort of your own home, for the perfect sky to unwind and relax beneath.

The night light is currently available on the market, so make sure to add it to your cart and elevate your home’s ambience.

The Role of Technology in Helping and Hurting Your Sleep

We’ve all heard claims of how technology has interfered with our ability to sleep well. Many say that the light from the screens hurt our ability to sleep quickly and deeply, while others say that the distraction that technology frequently creates hurts sleep quality. While some of these claims are true, simply saying that tech is bad for sleep is false! After all, technology encompasses so many different devices than the typical laptop or phone. Other technologies out there exist that are created to facilitate better sleep!

Sleep Aids and What They Are For

With an ever-changing climate, there are numerous factors that can influence your day-to-day, including your sleep cycle. Sleep aids have been proven to be some of the most common treatments for insomnia and other factors that could impact regulating sleep.     Sleep aids are only one component of the entire treatment approach for sleep problems because they could become addictive and may cause side effects. It is important to explore natural sleep aids and other techniques before looking at over the counter sleep aids.
